After finding nothing but outrageous prices on United’s website as well as various other travel site, I decided to hop in the rental and head ten minutes down the road to the airport, to speak with someone in person about our predicament. Long story short, Yolanda with United Airlines is my new favorite person in the world. With doctor’s note in hand, she was able to get us onto a new flight on Tuesday afternoon with no fees, penalties, or anything. Plus she booked us on the least full flight that day.
So, tomorrow we will chill and regroup, then Tuesday morning we will pack up and drive back down to LA to fly home.

It was really awesome how *willingly* helpful she was, too. Sometimes you can get what you want after a fight, but she was totally helpful right off the bat.
